10 – 12 am Session 1 [3 parallel workshops]
Brenda Louw – Anatomy Session
A lot of exciting stuff is happening in the world of anatomy and fascia research. ‘The West’ is moving away from the 300 year old ‘reductionist’ anatomical viewpoint, to acknowledging the beautiful way your body is intricately connected, not separated.
Brenda’s fun, interactive somatic anatomy-based workshop will explore concepts such as T12, jelly fish, pinkie toes, fascia, breathing…. getting a better understanding of our ‘felt’ sense, not only in an asana-based practice, but in movement and life itself.
Brenda has been practicing yoga since the year 2000, teaching since 2007. She is an elder with the IYN and runs ChillOut Yoga classes and Teacher Training in Long Melford, Suffolk. She has an infectious passion for teaching, which will inspire – and potentially transform – your practice.
Rachel Williamson – Seasonal Yoga Practice (Autumn)
This practice will include Chi Gung, and Yin and Yang Yoga practised in a way to work in harmony with the energy of the Autumn Season. This season is about gathering in and consolidating energy as we move towards Winter, so expect a slower, simpler practice.
In the Autumn the Lungs and Large Intestine are in focus so we will place an emphasis on breathing.
The session will start with a short explanation of the concept of Seasonal Yoga, and end with a long relaxation.
Rachel has practised Yoga since the 1970s and taught for more than 10 years. She has experience of diverse forms of yoga and likes to bring that broad perspective to her classes.
Ellen Lee – Sensing and Feeling Yoga
Ellen will offer 2 hours of steady, gentle yoga. Attention to working along with the ground and the breath, which Ellen refers to as our two constant companions. Encouraging deep connection and deep awareness. The practise will look at bringing ahimsa, sattya and santosha into our exploration. We will visit each chakra, and will invite our attention to anything that arrives and arises. The work of conscious Yoga, sensing and feeling into the mind, body and soul….
Ellen has been involved in Yoga for some 44 years now, teaching for the last 27, having trained in general and remedial Yoga with The Yoga For Health Foundation. She is the current Chair of The IYN.
